Today I’m sharing a youtube channel:
Del Sol is a really cool artist because his content lives at a crossroads between art, travel, nature and social media. There’s so many interesting dimensions to that. Personally I love when artists have these multiple angles of approach. Each can inform the other!
He seeks inspiration through travel and beyond just destinations but the study of landscape. This is a path well traveled by artists, so part of what sets Del Sol apart is the way he draws the audience in. You can participate in his creations by interacting on youtube! That’s what is so great about his page is that his creations are more than just static images – the audience can get insight into the process and lifestyle that goes into creating art.
We will be sharing more specific content by Del Sol going forward and we’re really excited to explore this awesome content with you lovely readers.
Today we have a photo by Kaleigh, another one of our longtime artists. This piece was actually up in my house for a time, awhile ago. It is a poignant image actually rendered on a piece of cardboard.
Today we wanted to feature something a little different, I have shared many wonderful creations by Jade in the past. And, surely more will come in the future. For now we want to direct our visitors to her webpage at:
I hope it isn’t presumptuous of me to say that we have shared Jade’s work with the world from early on in her career. (Maybe 2 or 3 years now!) It’s been amazing to see her journey and it’s reflected in this awesome website where she has tons of activities, events, commissions and so on to look through.
Please give her page a look it is definitely worth your time!
Peace & Love
We are beginning a new round of posts starting today! Stay tuned for more content from us coming soon!
Today we have a lovely painting by the late Steve Brooks. Hope you enjoy this piece and feel free to reach out to us with questions about this artist.
Peace and Love
It feels great to create something. You made something that you wanted, it has entered the world and taken form. You like it so much you think others should see it too. When you start putting yourself out there, you are open and vulnerable. Getting poor feedback feels bad but it’s inevitable.
Why do people on the web feel the need to be negative? There are many great and supportive online communities out there, but it can feel like the vast majority are just filled with haters. You post your hard work to a page only to have it voted down instantly by some bot and your creation never sees the light of day.
I think by understanding the motivations behind negative feedback creators can take this to learn and improve.
Don’t take it personal!
The first takeaway from internet negativity is to not take it too personally. People being rude really shouldn’t reflect on you, it is a reflection of their bad behavior and self hatred. Although we don’t deserve cruel comments just for trying to share our work, it is unfortunately a reality. More often than not, mean feedback is coming from a place of frustration. These people have been hurt and they now want to force that hurt onto others. Don’t let them win! Chase your dreams!
Bad feedback isn’t the worst thing – No feedback is the worst thing!
One of the healthiest ways to view negative feedback is to change your worst case scenario. This is basically looking at your worst fear in putting yourself out there. For most of us, our worst fear is negative feedback. It’s scary to have someone say your work sucks or it’s trash etc. and it hurts. However this is not really the worst fate for your work!
The worst thing that can happen for a creation is for no one to see it. For it to just enter the void. The world doesn’t owe you anything just because you made something, and even though you may have got a negative response they still took the time to tell you. Count that as a win! As an artist your goal is to elicit a response. Social media grows through engagement, whether positive or negative.
Everyone is a critic!
People love to criticize things. Odds are, people will find fault with your work rather than like it. It’s easy to criticize something and it makes you feel superior. It’s a cheap thrill. Again, don’t take it personal. It’s so hard to make something great so keep at it!
Keep it in perspective!
Don’t let the one bad feedback ruin the rest. We can get so stuck on the bad it’s important to remember a lot of people probably did like it. Count every win and count your losses as wins too. You tried and you put it out there. It’s hard to create! Don’t give it up!
Peace and Love!
The clock is stopped
Now the scene is laid ruin
I stumble to find my machine, then wander home
I notice the faces of the people on the street
And they appear so happy
But its not long till the vibrant colors fade
And the expressions on the faces are nothing but grey
But i wander alone
I work till my nubs are raw
And I’m still segregated
From the peace of mind
Only a sane man can find
His life is beautiful his home is sound
On the other side of town
I can’t stop recalling these blood soaked memories of 17
Locked in to a concrete hole with a stitch, to sooth my itch
From busting at the seams
from evaporating into steam
while i drench myself in soapy water
trying to get these fucking plates
While stress dreams and insecurities wreck my self esteem
I have a home
But, it is on on the other side of town
And when i would good off late at night
Id sit in the moonlight
And remark on the grand sight
And wished it were this lovely on the other side of town.
Those long nights id peer out to see the guests
Enjoying themselves and indulging in only the best
I wish i could be out there with them
Instead of this
day to day
for it to finally hit
for someone shouting from the window of
a 90s hooptie
with the windows tinted by panic
and the birds singing
there will be an explosion
afterwords i will lie there dead
Like some white man once said
“When the south side sneezes,
The north get a cold”
What does he hope to achieve with a sentence so bold
Almost as to be told
To know how normal
How normal it is
Instead of doing something about it
The snow is fierce
It smacks my window
And makes me shiver
Occumpanied by this red light
That tends to flicker
Its the only thing keeping the dark night at bay
Its the only thing keeping me awake enough, to even have
words to say
Breath in fresh air
Please i want to stay
Still you try to teach me to believe
Its not on-purpose
your obvious scheme
like we did this to ourselves
its hard to survive on 7.25
working at some far out
And he always did it somehow
BUT WE ARE TO BLAME?
When you put the substances into our reach
You’re the origin of every disease
I will hold it in today
And i probably wont do anything about it
Ill get high all day while civilizations crumble
And not care for the factory bound children, all by
Just like everyone else
